Your first battles: which modes to play
Where to sign up, which battle types suit a new player, a sensible order to try them in, and what each one pays.
- Start with an easy quest, then Quick Mock, then Quick Melee.
- The Melee Receptionist and the Clerk find opponents for you.
- Weapons you find in PvP are kept only if your team wins.

Once the tutorial is done, every battle desk is open to you. They differ in who you fight, how big the teams are, and what you take home. The Game Modes section of this wiki has a page for each; this chapter tells you where to start.
What should I do now?
Answer a few questions and the guide points you to your next step.
Have you finished the tutorial?
Finish it first: battles against players open when you are promoted at the end of the tutorial.
The tutorial →Have you played a quest yet?
Take an E-rank quest from a quest giver and run it at the Clerk. It is the safest place to learn the flask ring.
Battle basics →Do you want to fight other players now?
Temper your weapon at the Blacksmith, then play another quest. Come back when you feel ready.
The Blacksmith →Are you playing with a friend?
Form a party and book Quick Mock or Quick Melee together: the party leader books for everyone.
Booking a Quick match →Book Quick Mock at the Clerk for practice against your own faction, then Quick Melee at the Melee Receptionist.
Booking a Quick match →A good order for your first day
- An E-rank quest (from a quest giver, run at the Clerk): fight soldiers with no players around, practise the flask ring and learn the map. Pays Honor and gold.
- Quick Mock (at the Clerk): your first fights against real players, all from your own faction. It can drop weapons and counts for your win streak.
- Quick Melee (at the Melee Receptionist): the main event, against the other faction. Every Quick match starts you fully powered, so you do not need to farm flasks first.
- Melee rooms (at the Marshal): player-made rooms with their own rules, victory conditions and maps. Read the room's conditions before you join.
- Standoff and Deadlock (at the Battle Royale Elder): three or four teams in one arena. Chaotic, and the only place to win prize packs.
Bring a friend. Parties book Quick matches together, and a 2v2 with a partner you can talk to is far easier than a random 4v4.
The modes side by side
| Mode | Sign up at | You fight | Team sizes | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Quests | A quest giver, then the Clerk (Start Quest) | Soldiers and officers (PvE) | Solo | Learning, Honor and gold, promotion. |
| Quick Mock | The Clerk | Your own faction | 1v1 to 4v4 | Safe PvP practice with real rewards. |
| Quick Melee | The Melee Receptionist | The other faction | 1v1 to 4v4 | Fast PvP; the usual way to play. |
| Melee rooms | The Marshal | Other factions | Up to 4 per side | Custom rules, base capture maps, CPU generals in empty seats. |
| Mock Battle rooms | The Clerk | Your own faction | Up to 4 per side | Training with friends; no Honor or weapon drops. |
| Standoff and Deadlock | The Battle Royale Elder | Any mix of factions | 3 or 4 teams of 1 to 4 | Team brawls and prize packs. |
Quick Melee and Quick Mock are won by the first side to make enemy commanders retreat 10 times (3 in a 1v1). If the clock runs out first, the row's colour decides: green rows count commander defeats, blue rows count Damage Points (total damage dealt to enemy players).
Booking a Quick match
- Talk to the Melee Receptionist (Quick Melee) or the Clerk (Quick Mock) in any plaza.
- Pick a row: a map and a team size. A green Reserved box appears on your screen.
- Carry on with whatever you were doing. When a match is found you are moved to Battle Preparations by yourself.
- In Battle Preparations choose your weapon and battle item, then press Ready.
- A booking runs out after a while. If nothing is found, book again.
- A party leader books once for the whole party; everyone must be in the same faction.
- To cancel, talk to her (or the Clerk) again and pick Cancel my booking.
Before you join a Melee room
- Read the victory condition: retreats and commander defeats are about fighting players; the capture conditions are about bases.
- Check the grade. Novice rooms only take players up to the rank of Lt. Colonel.
- Check the Retreat Power-up rule. Maintain, Decrease and Lost rooms start everyone with no flask upgrades, so farm flasks first; Enhanced Status rooms, and every room on the Arena, start fully powered. The rule also decides what a defeat costs you (see Flask upgrades).
- Empty seats in base-capture rooms are filled by CPU generals, shown as [CPU] and a name. They hunt players and capture bases, but defeating one never counts for the score.
What your first battles pay
| Reward | How you get it |
|---|---|
| Gems and ore | Every PvP battle pays a few gems and ore, more for a win. |
| Honor | Every battle except Mock Battle rooms; drives your promotions. |
| Chi gem | Winners of Melee-type battles. |
| Weapon drops | Crates and enemy Supply Captains can drop Rank 4 or 5 weapons; you keep them only if your team wins. |
| Win streak | A run of wins in a row in team matches earns a random weapon. |
| Gold | Quests pay gold on report. PvP does not pay gold or Miso Koins at the moment. |
Fair play rules worth knowing
- Leaving a match breaks your win streak, costs you the full fame loss, and counts as a loss if your side was losing.
- Players who do not take part earn no rewards, and a player who stops fighting is removed from the battle.
- Wins and defeats against absent, idle or disconnected players earn nothing, and neither does farming wins with a friend.
