How to book
- Talk to the Melee Receptionist in any plaza.
- Pick a row from her list and confirm. A green "Reserved" box appears on your screen.
- Carry on with whatever you were doing. When a match is found you are moved to Battle Preparations automatically.
A booking lasts 10 minutes. If no match is found in that time it runs out and you can book again.
Parties book together: the party leader makes one booking for the whole party. Everyone in the party must belong to the same faction.
When the match starts
Only players of different factions are matched against each other. If you pick a row with a fixed size, the match starts as soon as both sides can fill it, so a full 4v4 party starts at once.
A booking for any size waits a little longer, to give a full match time to form:
| Match size | Wait for an any-size booking |
|---|---|
| 1v1 | 4 min |
| 2v2 | 5 min |
| 3v3 | 6 min |
| 4v4 | 7 min |
The rows
The Receptionist's list has nine rows across three maps. Rows are coloured green or blue, and the colour decides what settles a match that reaches time-up.
| Map | Row | Sizes | Weapons | Rule shown | At time-up | Musou limit | Attack correction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arena | Single Weapon | 4v4, 2v2, 1v1 | 1 | Most Defeats Wins (1v1: "First to 3 Wins") | More commander defeats (green) | 5 | Switched off |
| Plains | Quick Dual Wep | 4v4, 2v2 | 2 | Damage Points Or 10 Defeats | More Damage Points (blue) | 10 | Switched on |
| Water Lily Village | Quick Confront | 4v4, 3v3, 2v2, 1v1 | 2 | Most Defeats Wins | More commander defeats (green) | 10 | - |
The 1v1 Arena row reads "First to 3 Wins" only with the 0.1.0.3 English patch installed.
How a match is won
Quick Melee plays Confront rules. The first side to make the enemy commanders retreat 10 times wins on the spot - 3 times in a 1v1. A 2v2 also plays to 10.
If neither side gets there before the clock runs out, the row's colour decides:
- Green rows: the side that defeated enemy commanders more often wins.
- Blue rows (Plains, Quick Dual Wep): the side with more Damage Points wins. Damage Points are the total damage dealt to enemy players.
A tie at time-up is a draw.
Match rules
| Rule | Setting |
|---|---|
| Items | Allowed |
| Fame handicap | Switched off |
| Musou limit | On: 5 Musou per match on the Arena, 10 on the other maps |
| Lieutenants | None. Flask slot 4 becomes a random buff instead: Attack x2, Defence x2 or Max Speed |
| Attack correction | Off on the Arena, on for Quick Dual Wep on the Plains |
| Battle clock | The map's own: Arena 9:00, Plains 13:00, Water Lily Village 9:00 |
On the Plains and Water Lily Village rows you start with no flask upgrades and keep the ones you collect when you retreat.
Cancelling a booking
Any of these cancels your booking:
- Open the Melee Receptionist's list again.
- Enter any Battle Preparations room.
- Open the house or garden editor.
- Pick the "Cancel my booking" row.
Compared with the original game
The original game had a single Confront list: 4v4, 2v2 and 1v1, decided at time-up by Damage Points, on a 9:00 clock. The per-map rows, the dual-weapon rows, the Water Lily Village 3v3, the "First to 3 Wins" rule and the 5 and 10 Musou caps are new on DWO Reborn.
