Getting started: account, launcher and login
Create a website account, get game access, install the launcher and the English patch, and log in for the first time.
- Make an account on the website; you play with the same username and password.
- The download needs the Tester rank or above.
- Install the launcher and DirectX 9, let the launcher patch the game, then log in.

DWO Reborn runs on its own servers, and you play it with your dynastywarriors.online website account. Setting up takes four steps: an account, game access, the launcher, and the first login.
1. Make a website account
- Open the website and choose Create Account.
- Pick a username (3 to 20 characters: letters, numbers and underscores), enter your email and a password of at least 6 characters, and confirm it.
- This same username and password are what you type into the launcher and the game.
Never share your password. Staff will never ask for it.
2. Get game access
Downloading and logging into the game is currently open to accounts with the Tester rank or above, and to staff. The download page tells you which applies to you:
| What the button says | What it means |
|---|---|
| Login to Download | You are not signed in on the website yet. |
| Tester Rank Required - Join Discord | You are signed in, but your account does not have game access yet. The page explains how to get it. |
| Download Launcher | You have access. Go ahead. |
Access is decided by your website account, so a ban on the website also applies in the game.
3. Install the game
- On the Download and Play page, download the launcher and unpack it into a folder you own (for example on your desktop or a games folder), not inside Program Files.
- Install DirectX 9 from the same page. Windows 10 and 11 do not include the old DirectX 9 files the game needs, even though they have newer DirectX versions.
- Run the launcher as administrator and sign in with your website username and password. It downloads and checks the game files and installs the English patch.
- Use the configuration tool (DWOnlineEnv) to set your resolution, window mode and graphics before the first start.
The current English patch is version 0.1.0.3. Installing it saves a restore point first. If a patch ever causes trouble, the launcher's Roll back patch button (or ROLLBACK.bat) goes back one patch, and UNINSTALL.bat restores the original game files.
A black screen right after starting usually means the Windows Media Format component is missing, not that the game crashed. Install it and try again.
4. First login
- Start the game from the launcher. At the title screen press any key.
- Log in with your website username and password.
- You arrive at character selection. With no characters yet, the game goes on to character creation.
After you log in, a message of the day lists what is open and any important notices. Read it.
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| Wrong password | Check it on the website. Too many wrong attempts lock you out for a while. |
| Logged in, but the game refuses the account | Your account does not have game access (see step 2), or it has been suspended. |
| Character data is being updated | You were still logged in somewhere, for example after a crash. Logging in again with the right password takes over the old session. |
| The window came back small | Set your resolution again in the configuration tool (DWOnlineEnv). |

Before your first battle: settings worth changing
- Text size: the game starts with very small text. Set it to Large in the settings (Large town text needs a window of at least 1920 by 1080).
- Window mode: the launcher offers modern resolutions and a borderless window.
- Check the version: open the main menu, Functions, Support, Version. It should say 0.1.0.3.
Typing two or more Simplified Chinese characters in a chat message, or in a new character's name, switches the language of the non-player characters' lines to Chinese. If that happens by accident, ask the team on Discord to switch it back.
Rules and help
- Read the rules and the terms on the website. Cheating, exploiting bugs and harassing other players lead to bans.
- A window or your character stuck? Opening another player's menu and closing it again often frees it. If not, log out and back in.
- Lost connection in a battle? Log back in quickly and you return to it (see Battle basics).
- Questions and bug reports go to the team on Discord.
