Chronicles Quest -- Ambush at Huarong Pass

Text/Morey

Through the Dynasty Warriors Online version 2.100 update, our Musou OL has once again updated the Cao Wei Chronicles quartet, consisting of Cao Cao's "Ambush at Huarong Pass", Xiahou Dun's "The One-Eyed Pursuer", Cao Ren's "Defense of Nan Jun", and Xiahou Yuan's "Fierce Battle! Mount Dingjun".

Here, Morey will first introduce the first two Chronicles quests for everyone — "Ambush at Huarong Pass" and "The One-Eyed Pursuer"

"Ambush at Huarong Pass" is adapted from "Battle of Chi Bi Escape" after the Battle of Red Cliffs, telling the story of Cao Cao's disastrous defeat at Red Cliffs and his escape back north.

Time: 16 minutes

Map and Difficulty: B, River Port

Requirement: Complete each quest according to the prompts

S Condition: Remaining time over 4 minutes, completion grade drops by one level for each minute passed.

S Reward: Chronicles Stand "Ambush at Huarong Pass" Historical Record, Expression/spring

Recommended Weapon Items: High mobility weapons, Thunder Jade

Since the entire battlefield is in a rainy state, choosing Thunder Jade as the C-skill attack is the top choice.

Please see the image below for the overall route:

Cao Wei: Ambush at Huarong Pass

Our spawn point is located outside our army's granary in the bottom right corner of the map. After Comrade Cao Cao says a few words, Sun Quan army ambush troops led by Ling Tong with a group of cavalry charge out from the west side of the granary. At this time Zhang Liao appears to block Ling Tong's attack.

Here's a setting: our Musou Officers will never die, while the red Sun Quan army's Musou Officers will be defeated by our Musou Officers or soldiers. The yellow neutral troops are Liu Bei's army, and their Musou Officers must be defeated by you personally.

Cao Wei: Ambush at Huarong Pass

After defeating Ling Tong, Cao Cao reappears and runs continuously toward the west side of the map. At this point Lu Meng's ambush appears, scaring Cao Cao into a cold sweat, then... Xu Huang appears just in time to save Cao Cao.

Cao Wei: Ambush at Huarong Pass

After Xu Huang defeats Lu Meng, Cao Cao will run toward the center of the map. Players should not follow Cao Cao at this point, or Cao Cao might get stuck at the railing and freeze the quest permanently.

The correct approach is as shown in the image below: after defeating Lu Meng, wait for Cao Cao to reach the designated location in the center of the map. When the player catches up, Cao Cao will be able to smoothly pass the railing and reach his meeting with Zhao Yun.

At this point you need to wait for Cao Cao and Zhao Yun to battle, with Xu Zhu appearing to help during the fight. When Zhao Yun has only a sliver of health left, go up and finish him with one strike.

Cao Wei: Ambush at Huarong Pass

Cao Cao heads northeast, encounters Zhang Fei's ambush after crossing the bridge, so continue watching Cao Cao and Zhang Fei's battle, finishing him off with the same logic.

After defeating Zhang Fei, Cao Cao flees west and encounters Guan Yu at the bridge... Cao Cao and Guan Yu are about to draw the line here. However, when Zhang Liao and Cheng Yu persuade Guan Yu, you still need to be careful of Guan Yu's HA, though you can continue watching Guan Yu and Cao Cao battle.

Finally, Cao Cao successfully escapes to heaven... no wait, escapes alive.
