Battles & modes

  • New

    Quick Mock

Quick matchmaking against players of your own faction, booked at the Clerk. Unlike a Mock Battle room, it can drop weapons and counts toward your win streak.

    Quick Mock on the wiki
  • New

    Standoff and Deadlock

Team battles for three teams (Standoff) or four teams (Deadlock), booked at the Battle Royale Elder. The team that defeats the most enemy commanders before the timer runs out wins.

Standoff / Deadlock on the wiki
  • New

    Book as a party

A party can book Standoff / Deadlock together and fight on one team, with any mix of factions.

  • Changed

Quick Melee and Quick Mock lists

The rows read clearly: Single Weapon or Dual Weapons, and how the match is won. The Arena 1v1 rows are First to 3 Wins, and you can cancel a booking at the receptionist.

  • New

    CPU generals fill empty seats

Empty seats in Melee and Mock rooms are filled by CPU generals, marked [CPU]. They fight, capture bases and take over for a player who loses connection until they return. Defeating one never counts.

  • Changed

Every map in Melee and Mock rooms

The room Create lists show every battlefield. The old Veteran and Elite options are now Single Weapon and Dual Weapons, and any rank can join.

  • Changed

    Room starting power-ups

Rooms set to Maintain, Decrease or Lost start everyone with no upgrades. The two Enhanced Status settings start everyone fully powered.

  • Changed

    The Arena

You always spawn inside the stadium. From 4:00 on the clock everything outside it burns, the fire can defeat you (the kill goes to your opponent), and your base does not heal you while you burn.

    The Arena on the wiki
  • Changed

    Living battlefields

Battlefields are full of troops, every map has its bases and manned supply bases, and each side starts by its own supply base. Squads fight each other near you, and soldiers can defeat a player.

  • Changed

    Base types change every match

In PvP, base types are picked fresh each match (supply bases stay put). Juggernaut bases field tanks, and every player in a match sees the same bases.

  • New

    Water Lily Village tower base

A tower base stands in the middle of Water Lily Village: break its four towers to take it.

  • Changed

    Ruins

The empty bases with four dots hold four squads. Once wiped they never come back, and their map dots go away.

  • Changed

    Healing in your bases

Standing in a base your side holds heals you in PvP, faster the more of its urns are still standing. Base urns take several hits to break, and everyone sees them break.

  • New

    Weather and night in PvP

PvP battles can have weather and night, with music per map by day and by night. The Rain Amulet makes it rain for the whole match, and fire is weaker in the rain.

  • Changed

    Capture battles

The morale bar shows the bases each side holds. The "winning" music plays when a side is one base from winning, not at a fixed time.

  • Changed

    Plains clock

    Plains matches last 13 minutes.

  • Changed

    Quests

Every quest you can take can be finished, and every quest has its fixed bases. Quests have cooldowns by grade, from 1 hour for E to 24 hours for S (rank trials once).

    Quests on the wiki

Combat & balance

  • Changed

    Smoother PvP

Other players move on your screen the way the game itself moves them. Jumps, launches, landings and attack strings look right, and players knocked into the air no longer vanish.

  • Changed

    Fairer hits under lag

A hit counts only when it also happened on your opponent's screen, so lag no longer lands blows the victim never saw.

  • Changed

    Musou in PvP

Musou and True Musou attacks do 90% damage in PvP and end with their finisher when the bar runs dry. Your Musou charges faster the more Musou temper stars the weapon in your hand has.

  • Changed

    Elemental Guard

Elemental Guard (Guard + Charge) counters weapon swings only; arrows, beams and shockwaves are blocked but not countered. It can't be raised to cut your own normal-attack string short.

  • Changed

    Super armour

Normal, dash and jump attacks no longer make a super-armour move flinch; charges and Musou attacks still break it.

  • Changed

    What a retreat costs

The room's Retreat Power-up setting decides it: Maintain keeps your upgrades, Decrease loses one, Lost loses them all. Quests work like Lost. The flasks you have collected always stay, and a defeated player drops flasks that only the other fighters can pick up.

  • Changed

    Advance+ reworked

Advances work on your second weapon and team buffs reach your team-mates on every screen. Switching weapons cuts a running Advance+ to 5 seconds, and every Advance+ shows its right name to other players.

  • Changed

    Sacrifice, Drain Guard and Venom

Sacrifice drains your Life (never below 1) to heal every team-mate, and lowers your Attack and Defence while it runs. Drain Guard drains 50 Musou from the attacker (CPU generals included), and Venom poisons enemy commanders for 10 seconds.

  • Changed

    Gravity, Dragon Soul and Shatter

Gravity hits harder the more Life you have lost, Dragon Soul raises attack by half, and Shatter makes Break Charges cost 75% less Musou while still doubling their damage.

  • Changed

    Healing effects

Leech heals you when you hit an enemy commander, and Recovery Guard and Boundary also heal when you guard a soldier's blow. Rally heals allied officers and soldiers, not players.

  • Changed

    Remedy and Elixirs

Remedy refills your Musou through the fight, Herbal Elixir and Elixir heal you over time with a green glow, and Fury Advance+ refills Musou. They stack, and everyone sees them.

  • Changed

    Wither and Vorpal

While an enemy's Wither is on you, you gain no Musou at all. Vorpal attacks (and Carnage) give the attacker no Musou and cost Musou per hit.

  • Changed

    Fire

A True Musou's fire burns harder than an orb's, and several True Musous use their own element in PvP. A Bombardier's bomb sets you on fire until it goes out.

  • New

Flask slot 4 without a lieutenant

With no lieutenant in the battle, the Lieutenant+ slot gives a random power-up: Attack x2, Defence x2 or Max Speed.

  • Changed

    Troops in PvP

PvP melee soldiers hit harder, archers and bombardiers shoot less often, and a player who stands still can be knocked out (it counts for nobody).

Weapons & gear

  • Changed

    Closed Beta weapon set

During the Closed Beta, weapons come from 12 weapon families at rank 4 and rank 5, always with random emblems.

  • New

    Weapons from PvP

Crates and enemy Supply Captains can drop weapons in Melee rooms, Quick Melee, Quick Mock and Standoff / Deadlock. You keep one only if your team wins.

  • New

    Win streaks

Every 4th win in a row (2v2 or bigger) gives a random weapon. A loss or leaving resets the streak.

    Rewards on the wiki
  • New

    Team prize packs

Every member of a winning team in a big enough Standoff / Deadlock match gets a prize pack, fallen team-mates included. A prize that doesn't fit arrives by letter.

  • Changed

    Modify points

Every weapon has 5 Modify points from the start (Modify 0/5). Battles no longer add points.

  • Changed

    Weapon Usage

Usage goes to the weapon in your hand and is earned only in PvP, so Polish and Ultimate Polish need PvP Usage.

  • New

    Shells

Exchange Gold or Miso Koins for Shells to raise the house forge's success rate. The bonus lasts until the weapon's durability runs out.

  • New

    Weekly Rank 3 shelf

The Blacksmith sells a weekly shelf of Rank 3 weapons, one per character per week. Each shows its own emblems before you buy.

  • Changed

    C.Pike rework

The C.Pike's throw, jump charge, C4, normal strings and EVO were reworked for reach, element and timing, and the C4 uses your orb element instead of lightning.

  • Changed

    Weapon damage fixes

Finishers that did almost no damage, and later normal attacks and charges that read the wrong damage, are fixed across many weapons.

  • Changed

    Weapon timing

Spear C1 Moon and S.Pike C1 Crescent come out a little later than in the original game, and the Spear C5 has no super armour.

  • Changed

    Your last weapon is safe

You can't discard, sell or exchange your last weapon.

  • New

    Weekly Tailor gear

The Tailor's gear changes every week: classic DWO gear, plus some early DWO Z gear on Fridays.

  • Changed

    Gear and the Merchant

The Merchant buys any gear that isn't protected, including Tailor gear. Protected gear and gear-set pieces stay greyed out.

Town & social

  • Changed

One Miso Koin purse per account

Miso Koins belong to your account, so every character on it shares one purse.

  • Changed

    Buy Miso Koins with gold

1 Miso Koin costs 500 gold at the Antique Dealer and the Merchant. Gold can buy Koins, not the other way round.

  • Changed

    Weekly salary

Your weekly salary also grows with the time you played that week.

  • New

    Rebirth

Be reborn from your bed or with a Rebirth Orb and choose your faction again. Your rank goes back to Guard and you leave your guild, but your gear, house and gold stay.

  • Changed

    House storage

What you can store depends on the furniture you place, and every new house starts with three armories and a wardrobe. Nothing is ever deleted if you are over a limit.

  • Changed

    Guild furniture

The Guild Master buys guild furniture (Wardrobe, Armory, Storage Chest) with Guild Gems from the Messenger.

  • Changed

    Friends-only whispers and mail

Whispers go to friends and guild mates only, and letters to friends only, which keeps spam out of your inbox.

  • Changed

    Friends list

The friends list shows each friend's real status. Set Information Privacy to Close to keep your faction and location to yourself; it is remembered.

  • New

    Broker sale notice

When something of yours sells on the Broker while you are online, the Notice lights up.

  • Changed

    Antique Dealer

The Antique Dealer shows your Miso Koins and sells Emblem Stones.

  • Changed

    Lieutenants and mounts in town

Click your lieutenant in town for Letter Check and Outbox. Lieutenants wait outside Taverns and elephants outside the Market: ride in and you walk in on foot.

  • Changed

    Musou Board

Chat tells you when you get a stamp, your seal count, and when a reward is ready. Claiming a reward has the general speak his own lines.

  • Changed

    One shared Tavern

Every Tavern is one shared tavern for all factions.

  • New

    New faces

New faces for men and women at the Beautician, and the Melee Receptionist, Broker, Antique Dealer and Tavern Master have new looks.

  • New

    Team nameplates

Game Masters and admins show ".GM" after their name in town, so you can tell who is on the team.

  • Changed

    Crafting

Crafting success follows your skill and domestics, and the general you serve adds to his domestic. Herbal Elixir is crafted at a Cauldron from 2 Elixirs.

Getting started

  • Changed

    A fresh start

New characters start with 0 gold and 0 Miso Koins; the first tutorial battle pays 2,000 gold. You start with one weapon, an R4 spear with its own emblems.

  • Changed

    Guided tutorial

The next person to talk to blinks on the map and the top-left tells you where to go. The tutorial includes a Beautician step.

  • Changed

    Musou Board from day one

You are handed the Musou Board when you pick "Serve <general>" in the tutorial.

  • New

    Starter wardrobe

New characters start with a wardrobe of head, body, arm and leg pieces to dress up with.

  • Changed

    Titles are earned

Titles are given only when earned, such as crafting and forging titles. New characters have none.

Quality of life

  • New

    Rejoin after a crash

Restart the game and log back in within 5 minutes to return to your battle. In a 1v1 the match waits for you, and the waiting player can't be hurt.

    Rejoining on the wiki
  • Changed

    Battle chat and voices

Say, party and guild chat reach your team in battle, /tell reaches its target, and /shout reaches the enemy team in Mock battles. Command-wheel voice lines are heard on every screen.

  • New

    "Enemy officer, slain!"

Defeating an enemy player makes your character call it out.

  • Changed

    Loading screen

The battle loads behind the VS screen and starts once everyone is loaded. Your team is on the left, and each row turns Ready as that player loads.

  • New

    Sortie invitations

Melee and Mock rooms invite idle players in town to join. Set Recruitment Preference to Off to stop them.

  • Changed

    Your mount stays with you

The mount or companion you pick stays with you after battles and after logging in again.

  • Changed

    Full English

Menus, results screens, battle text, map names and rank names are in English, with long rank names shortened where space is tight.

  • New

    Roll back an update

If an update gives you trouble, the launcher has a "Roll back patch" button.

    Download
  • New

    Fair-play protection

Defeating a player who is away or disconnected counts for nobody, and wins against absent opponents pay nothing.
